This workshop draws inspiration from the delightful book “When’s My Birthday,” written by Julie Fogliano and beautifully illustrated by one of my favourite children’s book artists, Christian Robinson. During the workshop, we will take a look at Christian Robinson’s style for depicting characters and then we will put these methods into practice as we create our very own birthday character cutouts.

In the workshop, I will take you through a step-by-step process that is simple and easy to follow. The duration of the workshop is approximately 20-30 minutes.

For this workshop you will need: a sheet of cardboard / acrylic or tempera paint (including black + white) / pencil / scissors / ruler / glue stick / q-tips / paint brushes in various sizes / water container / paint palette or similar / paper towel / hairdryer (optional).

This workshop is ideal for children ages 4-8, however it can be enjoyed by anyone, including adults. Please note that younger children will need assistance with the workshop.
